I started drinking coffee black when I was in junior high. It was a symbol of fellowship in my family. Till the day he died, if my father knew I was coming home from work, from college, or even from my home in a different state, he would say, "I will put on a pot of coffee." A cup of coffee with someone symbolizes community, conversation and a simple willingness to park an agenda for a few minutes to hear and be heard
